HOW DO WE KNOW THEY ARE HEALTHY?
All meals in the Delicious Nutritious range carry the Health Star Rating on the front of pack to help customers make healthy choices when comparing to other ready meals. All the meals have a 4 or above health star rating, and have been developed with the Woolworths nutrition team to get the right balance of nutrients, whilst keeping saturated fat, sugar and sodium levels down. Every meal contains less than 450 calories and with either 2 or 3 servings of veggies.
The Health Star Rating system is a Government led initiative designed to help customers choose healthier products within a category based on a product’s nutritional value. Foods are rated from ½ to 5 stars, the more stars, the healthier the choice. All meals in the Delicious Nutritious range have been designed by nutritionists to be 4 stars or above.
HOW DO READY MADE MEALS FIT IN WITH MICHELLE’S FOOD PHILOSOPHY?
The reality is that many Australians are busy with work and family life and preparing meals for both lunch and dinner from scratch every single day of the week can be difficult. Many Aussies are consuming far too much junk food, take away food or on the other end of the scale skipping meals altogether. Delicious Nutritious range with Woolworths provides everyday busy Australians an alternative healthy and easy meal choice. It’s about having more options available that help people achieve their health and fitness goals.
WHAT IS THE NUTRITION CRITERIA?
All Delicious Nutritious meals:
- Health Star Rating of 4 or above
- High in protein
- Good source of fibre
- 2-3 full serves of veg per meal
- Less than 450 calories.
WHAT ABOUT THE PACKAGING?
We use environmentally friendly packaging and all the packaging is recyclable.
HOW ARE THE PRODUCTS SOURCED?
All meat products are sustainably sourced. We use RSPCA Approved chicken and No Added Hormone beef.
DOESN’T MICROWAVING DESTROY THE NUTRITION CONTENT?
Some nutrients break down when they’re exposed to heat, whether it is from a microwave or a regular oven. Vitamin C is perhaps the clearest example. But because microwave cooking times are shorter, cooking with a microwave does a better job of preserving vitamin C and other nutrients that break down when heated.
ARE THE DELICIOUS NUTRITIOUS MEALS OK TO HEAT IN THE OVEN?
All Delicious Nutritious meals are prepared to be cooked in microwaves only.
